Presiding Bishop Gérard Caussé Visits the MTC

What a Wonderful Visit from Bishop Gérald Caussė to the Ghana MTC
June 30, 2016

It was so nice to have the visit of Bishop Caussé on Thursday.  We have been anticipating this day for months!

In his remarks he noted how his life has really changed over the last 8 years.  He asked the missionaries “Why did I say yes to President Monson when called me to be a General Authority and to leave my country?” He asked, “Why did you come on a mission?”  Had several respond.
“I said yes because I know one day I will be before Christ and will be happy to say that I did all that I could to help Him. I would then thank Him for the atonement He made for me.”

He told of when he was asked to visit the Vatican to talk about the new Rome temple. He was asked to go because the archbishop over relations with other faiths was a French person from Bordeaux, his city of birth, and had attended the same secondary school there. ”I gave him a wonderful article from Elder Holland about Mormons being Christian. He invited me to come back with experts in our church doctrine and have a debate. Being an expert in knowledge does not necessarily qualify one to share the gospel. I thought about bringing my children back and having them sing I am a child of God.”

“In the Middle Ages there were many savants on religion, but no truth because of the apostate state of the world. What you really need are not experts in the gospel, but those with the feeling and testimony by the spirit.”

“In Preach My Gospel gospel we learn that the message is that the church is restored. That makes it different from all others. what are the things that make us different from the restoration 1. The First Vision   2. The Book of Mormon translated   and  3. The restoration of the keys and authority of the Gospel.”

“A visitor at the baptism of our Child remarked how impressed she was at how we pray to God in a such a personal way.”

He then spoke to us about another way to say the Plan of Salvation ... the Doctrine of Christ. He pointed out that either way it is said, it points to the atonement of our Savior.

Bishop Causèe and President Brubaker have a special bond that started when we were serving in the Paris France mission.

Elder and Sister Tibbitts welcome Bishop Causèe to the MTC.
Along with 94 other missionaries.
